Who We Are
Director of Basketball and Coach
I have college and high school level coaching experience at Simpson college as well as Encina High school. I currently coach JV grade girls at Enterprise High School. I have worked with youth under My Little Legend training programs and I am currently the Director of Basketball Operations and Coach for Shasta Magic Athletics.
I played college basketball and football in college as well as played several pro-am leagues. I am known as a very explosive player with a well rounded game that makes every player on my teams better.
I am a graduate of Simpson college and have my BA in Business and Human Resource Management. I have my Masters in Education and Teach PE at Mistletoe School in Redding.
I have been abundantly blessed by the Lord!! The opportunity to positively influence young people through sports is a blessing and responsibility that I take very seriously the inspiration that I get from seeing young people working toward a positive future is my greatest reward.
I have a great wife, Christena and daughter, Janae Gray. They are the reason that I put one foot in front of the other on a daily basis. I love to play basketball and like to fish.
DIRECTOR OF Volleyball AND COACH
I came to Simpson University in May 2013 where I took the reigns of Head Coach. I have been playing and coaching women`s & men`s volleyball for 25 years. I have help coach at U.C. Davis and UCLA for F.C.A. Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I have played volleyball since 1985, both on various men`s teams and co-ed teams across the country.
“I firmly believe that every season can be a successful season by simply staying on course. The desire to win, to get better, and to believe in each other is something that I push all of my athletes to feel in all things that we do. A love for the game and a respect for teammates can make any group of young women reach goals that once seemed impossible.”
I have 3 wonderful children. Kevin 25, Kyle 22 and Chasey 18. We moved to Redding, Ca in 2013 and love the area. Coaching is a passion. Seeing these young athletes become stronger and more knowledgeable in their sport is a great reward.
As we reel in the seasons we realize that volleyball is really about relationships - both on and off the court. Our devotion and commitment to each other will bring out the best in us. It`s not about winning and losing - it`s about becoming your BEST. When you, as an individual, and you as a team, become your best - amazing results unfold. A nurturing learning experience with "no fear of mistakes" helps these young athletes achieve their BEST.
